SoPlayer on a Firestick

A Firestick asks for one permission before it lets an app in from outside the Amazon store. Granting it takes a minute and only happens once, and after that any player installs the same way.

Get Downloader

  1. 1.From the Fire TV home screen, open Find and then Search.
  2. 2.Type Downloader and choose it from the results.
  3. 3.Pick the orange Downloader icon and press Get.

Allow Downloader to install apps

Where the switch lives depends on the age of the stick.

  1. 1.Newer sticks: open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. Highlight the Fire TV Stick line and press select seven times in a row. Go back one screen, open Developer Options, and switch on Install unknown apps for Downloader.
  2. 2.Older sticks: open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and switch on Apps from Unknown Sources.
Note. Developer Options is hidden on recent sticks until you press select seven times on the About screen. If it is not showing yet, press select a few more times.

Install a player and sign in

In Downloader, type the app address from your WhatsApp message and let it install. Any of these players takes the same login:

Open the player, pick the login screen, and enter the username, password and server address from your message. The channels and the guide arrive on their own.

Prefer a proper app store? Android boxes and Chromecast pull the same players from the Play Store, and a Samsung or LG TV or a Roku runs a player with nothing in the HDMI port. Whichever route you take, read the channel list first.
